Buying rat traps in a store
Hardware, home-improvement and farm-supply stores usually carry traps. Before you buy, check:
- Is it made for rats? Many traps on the shelf are mouse traps. Rats need a bigger trap and stronger spring.
- Is the mechanism covered? Important if you have kids or pets.
- Can it go outside? Most rat problems in Canada are in garages, sheds and yards.
- Is it reusable? Single-use traps add up quickly.
